Paper Riot & Adventure team up to make some noise at Target. / October 25, 2016

With a name like Paper Riot, this project promised to be fun from the start. In late 2015, Garven – Paper Riot’s parent company – came to Adventure with a super-trendy new DIY decor brand that needed help telling other people (read: retail buyers) how cool they were.

We started with a comprehensive review of the initial Paper Riot brand, their products and main competitors. Our deep dive and brand strategy work manifested an amped up logo and a fresh brand voice sure to cause some disruption in several mass and mid-tier retailers. This was done in tandem with additional Brand Positioning and Style Guide work to further outline the brand’s identity, beliefs and brand asset usage.

To no one’s surprise, Paper Riot’s bold yet oh-so-loveable personality and reimagined peel-n-stick DIY and decor product lines quickly won over major retail powerhouses. Ahem, Target and Kohl’s. To get the brand buttoned-up and ready for its in-store debut, Adventure pushed ahead to finalize the packaging design and website design.

A multi-day photoshoot with Minneapolis-based photographer Steve Henke and his talented wife, Margo (who styled the shoot), resulted in Pinterest-perfect images that supported the brand’s hip aesthetic. And to complete the brand’s visual story, we partnered with Crash+Sues to create a fresh and totally fun video that brought the brand to life.
